back to the world of broadband and traffic laws...

just landed in bangkok and i'm waiting for emily, ellen, and adrianna to get here. took an overnight flight from delhi after a tearful goodbye from our little group. hard to believe we were strangers a couple of weeks ago. India definitely left an impression. don't have the time to really put it all into words at the moment, but maybe i'll write something a bit more introspective once all the dust settles.

the cab ride from the airport in bangkok felt like i had landed in another planet -- one with orderly traffic, no honking, and not a cycle rickshaw in sight. i hate to admit that it felt a little sterile. i am now on a legit broadband network (!) so i will post some older photos from India. tomorrow I'm headed to Phuket for some R+R with the girls on the beach.

Sari-making in the village. Each of these men earn 150 rupees per day (about $3.75). They turn these saris over to a middle man who sells them at a premium. every bead is hand-sewn.


my super-cool travel-mate (that's aussie for travel buddy) yvette in the back of an army-style jeep in Bundi. she was my partner in crime, my pharmacist, and a great source of aussie slang. ;-)

We got to take a tour of the elementary school which is considered one of the nicest public schools in this area. I got a kick out of the english lessons... especially the lion-loin confusion ;-)
